Recording Academy Friends! FYC: Best Americana Performance Wild Heart Live LUXE Kristen Ford co-written by Ani DiFranco

Kristen Ford sent one unsolicited email to Righteous Babe Records. Soon after, the label’s founder and Kristen’s personal hero, Ani DiFranco, was sitting in the audience at her show.

Now Kristen is on the road to a Grammy nomination for Best Americana Performance with “Wild Heart,” and in this conversation she shares how she got here: the bold ask, the nerves that showed up right on schedule, and the moment she let go of needing the trophy.

If you’ve been sitting on an idea, an email, or a dream that feels too big, this one’s for you. We talk about asking without permission, upper limits and why big wins can feel scary, turning your goals into a game, and ego death (plasma lines and one very strange Craigslist ad included). We also get into why handmade art matters more than ever in the age of AI.

Plus, I owe Limp Bizkit an apology. You’ll see.

If you’re a Recording Academy voting member, give Kristen a listen.

Watch or listen now, and tell me in the comments: what’s the email you’ve been waiting to send?
